Company History

McKenzie Bay International, Ltd. is comprised of three wholly owned operating subsidiaries;

  • WindStor Power Co, “WPC”, a Michigan corporation that markets, sites, installs and manages ongoing operations and maintenance of WindStor®
  • DERMOND, Inc., a Canadian corporation, developer of the vertical axis wind turbine utilized in the WindStor® system, and
  • Lac Doré Mining, Inc., a Canadian corporation, owner of claims to the Lac Doré vanadium/titanium deposit in Northern Quebec, Canada.

Prior to July 2003, MKBY’s primary focus was on the exploration of the Lac Doré vanadium/titanium deposit near Chibougamau, Quebec. Based upon a market study undertaken as part of a preliminary feasibility study by SNC-Lavalin, dated April 2002, MKBY believed that successful introduction of new vanadium-based bulk energy storage devices (Vanadium Redox Batteries) could generate increased demand for vanadium, which could make exploitation of the Lac Doré deposit economically feasible. Lac Doré owns 404 contiguous mining claims for vanadium/titanium deposits and has developed proprietary refining technology to produce high-purity vanadium for new battery technologies that could ultimately be used by WindStor®. The deposit has never been mined and MKBY is evaluating alternatives, including the prospect of partnering, with the intent of monetizing this asset.

In July 2003, MKBY changed the emphasis of management and its financial resources to the development and commercialization of WindStor®. Please see the WindStor tab for a description of the product and introduction to our business model.

McKenzie Bay International, Ltd., a Delaware corporation established in 1998, is publicly traded under the symbol MKBY.
